uh oh getting sucked in

the sa program is coming to my little town. a year ago there wasnt even have a singles ward, now they are the rumblings of establishing the "middle singles" scene through activities such as family home evening, temple nights, and other non-dance type stuff. because of my calling, i am visible and ,as you may have noticed, have a big mouth so i am being asked to get involved. to "help". no official callings. there were some hints on a stake level, but i made it known i did NOT want to be involved like that. so far, so good. i figure this is my come uppance. i have complained enough and now here is an opportunity to possibly make some effective changes in what i consider and totally ineffective program. what changes do you think should be made? give me some ideas so i am prepared! thanks in advance.

  1. Have you been to this blog yet? midsingles.wordpress.com

There are some good ideas on how to tailor things to different areas. I've worked on doing midsingles in my area and its been really helpful. If you want more ideas, let me know, I'd be happy to help.

  2. I am going to have to think about this... because I think the problems go deep than most people realize.

  4. Imagine what it must feel like for a divorced woman who is sexy, smart, and spiritual to be told by her own church -- for whom she has made a lifetime of sacrifices -- that she is not welcome at a "mid-singles" activity because she is over the age of 40, or 45, or 55, or whatever. How unchristian are we willing to be in the LDS church? I just don't get it. Fight the mid-singles virus before it kills more people.

  5. "mid singles virus"- i like that. i get why they kick the 30 yr olds up to the mid singles, but why do they kick the 45 yr old out of the program all together? it seems like a train wreck and i just dont participate. sometimes i feel guilty for that, other times i think i am just saving my testimony.
